Saharah’s Midnight Deadline

Yesterday, I received Egbert’s goodbye letter in the mail. I’ll miss the guy, but I’m sure we’ll meet again in one game or another.

Dear Jeff, Moving day is finally here, and I keep thinking of the fun times we had. Those memories are what I'll take with me to my new town, not just boxes and stuff. -From Egbert

Saharah was in town, and she was looking for old carpets.

Saharah: I came from far away. I wish to trade carpets. It is for carpets that I came to your town today.

I asked five villagers for some, and Gabi was the only one who had something to give me. I planned on asking more villagers, of course…but the clock struck midnight and it was too late. Unlike some other special characters, Saharah is pretty strict about her “quest” ending exactly at midnight. I guess she’s afraid she’ll turn into a pumpkin or something. So I just put my old flooring into storage for next time.

Today, the fishing tournament was held. And, as usual, I was too late to participate. 😛 But Chip informed me that Tom won the tourney by catching an 84.1-inch tuna. That’s a big tuna! (Is it named Jim?)

Chip: Tom from here in Forest! Solid fishing! But not so much for you. Nyuuk nyuk!

I heard a balloon present flying by, and I shot it down against the backdrop of the northern lights. There was a fire bar inside the package, which explained why the hot air kept the balloon afloat…but not why the string didn’t burn. Hmmm. 🤔

Jeff the bunny prepares to shoot down a balloon present underneath the northern lights (aurora borealis) in Animal Crossing: City Folk.

I made my way over to the Roost, and I asked K.K. for a random song. He performed Forest Life for me, which is always a good song. 🙂

K.K.: All right, get ready to dig the riffs on this ditty: Forest Life.

If you haven’t yet seen the video I posted last Sunday, here it is: City Folk Moments #18.

Once you’ve watched the video, you’ll know why I gave Nana this catchphrase when she asked me for one tonight: Nanamuffin.

Nana: Nanamuffin. Hm... I like the way it rolls off the tongue!

See you all again soon! As a reminder, Festivale is coming up on Monday. Check out my Festivale Guide if you need a refresher on how it works!

Expired Eggs

Tom sent me a letter in the mail, telling me he’s over his cold now. He thanked me for the medicine by sending me a vaulting horse. Moments after reading the letter, I saw Tom in person outside of town hall. He talked about when he was a kid, and his dad woke him up to see the aurora in the sky.

Tom: This always takes me back to when I was a kid and my dad woke me up to see the aurora.

And that’s how I knew there was an aurora tonight. 😛

The northern lights as seen from town hall.

That may have been a nice surprise, but I later had a not-so-nice surprise: Egbert is moving out! 🙁

Egbert: Well, see, I'm actually leaving Forest. For good, doodle-duh.
Don’t say “for good.” Who knows, you may be back again someday.

Just when I was saying I liked my current coop group of villagers, Egbert has expired! He was a good egg too! This will leave me scrambling to hatch a new plan. It’s over-easy never easy to lose one of your favorite neighbors; it leaves a fowl taste in your mouth. But hopefully we’ll meet again someday!

Over by Able Sisters, Nana told me that she always dreamed of opening her own bakery.

Nana: When I was little, I always dreamed of opening my own bakery. I knew exactly how I would decorate it...

She said she never got to open her bakery, but she admired the Able Sisters for making their dream a reality. Don’t give up, Nana! Maybe you can still open that bakery someday!

I headed to the Roost to catch K.K. Slider’s performance just shortly before midnight. I told him I was feeling blue, and he played Steep Hill for me. Roscoe was also at the Roost, enjoying a nice cup of coffee.

K.K.: Here's a jam that'll shine the blues clean off your shoes... It's called Steep Hill.

I visited Antonio, and he gets the award for worst-designed house of 2024. 😛 Almost all of the furniture is in the front of the house, with only one narrow path to the back…where there lots of empty space, save for one fossil. Not the most usable way of arranging your stuff, Ant-man.

Antonio's questionably-designed house.

I’ll see you all next week. Never Stop Crossing!

Gabi Gabbing

On Wednesday, I saw my robo buddy Cube in the city. He was talking about a girl from Forest who got an interesting haircut. I’m pretty sure he was talking about River, because she did make a bunch of trips to Shampoodle when I made my hair guide.

Cube: I saw this one girl from Forest who had a, um, kind of interesting-looking noggin!

Today, Gabi was talking about Tom and Nana, and how they get along so well. Gabi wondered if they were “lovey-dovey.” 😆

Gabi: Well, the other day I asked them if they were, you know, lovey-dovey? They denied everything!
Gabi loves gabbing about other people.

I was getting a bit tired of wearing my New Year’s shirt, so I bought a seven-ball shirt at Able Sisters. I also bought a bunny hood; I thought I could troll Gabi with it. 😛

Me wearing a bunny hood while standing behind Gabi the bunny.
Wait ’til she turns around. 😛

But she didn’t react to my new accessory. She was just happy to have somebunny to talk to. 🐰

Gabi: Sometimes I get kinda lonely, bear with, so it's nice to have company.

I made sure to put my New Year’s shirt in my house, so that I didn’t accidentally sell it. (Although I think I picked up a backup shirt on one of my extra characters, just in case.)

Egbert asked me to catch a mole cricket for him, and I agreed to help out. In a rare occurrence, I only had to dig one hole to find it! But then it took me five swings of the net to catch it. 😆 One way or another, mole crickets are never easy. 😛

Egbert: Huh huh huh! Don't worry, little mole cricket, you can sleep in my bed tonight!

Egbert thanked me for the bug, and he gave me a robo-wall in return.

Later, K.K. Slider bored me with a performance of K.K. Technopop. 🤖 It’s about as exciting as watching robo wallpaper dry. 😛

K.K.: All right, get ready to dig the riffs on this ditty: K.K. Technopop.

Enjoy the rest of your weekend, everyone! I’ll see you next time. Never Stop Crossing!
