Fang Flees Forest

I received a letter from Biskit in the mail when I started up the game today. He is over his cold now, and he sent me a kiddie wardrobe to thank me for the medicine I gave him last week.

Antonio told me he hears weird cartoonish sounds coming from his body when he’s lying in bed. That’s funny, because I’ve had that happen too! 😆

Antonio: And when I'm laying in bed, I hear weird cartoon sound effects coming from my body.

He attributed the sounds to a growth spurt, but then he wondered if he accidentally swallowed a TV. 😛

Over at Able Sisters, I decided to buy a straw shirt. It may not be the best looking shirt, but I wanted something different. And it certainly fits the autumn season!

Mabel: Oh, that looks absolutely perfect on you! Shall I wrap it up?

When I went into Fang’s house, I was surprised to find the wolf packed up! He’s moving away, without giving me any advance warning. He only lasted four months in Forest, which is quite disappointing.

Fang: Whoa, is that J-boo? Well, I'll be!

Rosie asked me for a fossil, so I gave her a pachy skull that I dug up today. She was very excited about it, and she rewarded me with 528 bells.

Rosie: If I was any happier, I think I'd be a sundae, Super J!

Later on, I returned to the game to catch K.K. Slider’s Saturday night show. I asked him for a random song, and he played “K.K. D & B” for me.

K.K.: All right, get ready to dig the riffs on this ditty: K.K. D & B.

When I checked the recycle bin, I found an arcade machine and a gargloid. I gave the gargloid to Brewster for storage. Surprisingly, it was one of just a few gyroids that he isn’t already holding for me. I want to complete his collection at some point.

I’ve posted two ACCF videos since last week, including City Folk Moments #30:

And the other one is my annual slideshow. Here is The 17th Year in Pictures:

Carp Handshake

Last Sunday, I played again to try to save Big Top (if necessary). But he still didn’t mention moving, so I’m pretty sure he’s safe for now. Some of those bits of dialogue just don’t sound as conclusive as they apparently are. But after chatting with him for a bit, I took this photo of him…and my cat constellation up in the sky.

Big Top walks by in the background as I look up at the sky (and my cat constellation).

Yesterday, Mom sent me a letter about it being the season for catching colds. She actually sent me some medicine with the letter.

Dear Jeff, Wrap up and stay warm. It is cold season, after all. Make sure you've got a little medicine and a LOT of soup! Mom knows best! -Mom

Today, the November fishing tournament was held. It was a carp-only contest, and Antonio informed me that he hasn’t caught many carp…up his nose. I would never have even thought to fish there!

Antonio: So...a carp, huh? Haven't caught so many of those, up my nose.

Big Top told me about a dream in which he won the tournament. He was congratulated by a giant carp who shook his hand. 😛

Big Top: I dreamt last night that I won the tourney, and this gigantic carp shook my hand!

Monty asked me for some white furniture, so I tried giving him a mush TV that I found while picking mushrooms. He was happy with it, and he rewarded me with an exotic wall.

Monty: Finally, I won't have to live without mush TV things any longer!

Biskit was sick with a cold this week, so I gave him some medicine Sunday, Wednesday, and yesterday. By today, he was over his cold. He thanked me, and he said he’ll send me a reward in the mail (since my pockets were full).

Biskit: I'll never forget the taste of the medicine you gave me, or candy!

I caught two carp for the tournament, and I took them over to Chip. They measured 32.2 inches and 28.6 inches. However, neither of them topped Big Top’s top catch that was 32.9 inches. So I did not win this tournament.

Chip: Big Top caught a respectable 32.9-inch carp. Yup. Ate it with my own mouth.

I don’t know if that was the final result or not, but it looks like Big Top’s dream may have come true! Well, except for the handshake from the giant carp.

I recently posted a compilation of my top eight tarantula moments in Animal Crossing: City Folk. If you’d like to check it out, here it is:

Now that November is here, mushrooms can be found around town. That also includes a piece of mush furniture each day, which will be disguised as a mushroom (like this mush bed).

Jeff, holding up a mushroom: WHOA!

Big Top told me he was planning on moving out of town, but I told him to stay. However, that didn’t convince him. So I kept speaking to him to try to change his mind, and he wondered if I kept talking to him just because I liked his cologne.

Big Top: Is it because you like my new coleslaw cologne, J-boo?

Way too many of my villagers have started using Big Top’s catchphrase, “in a coma.” So when Deena asked for a new one, I jumped at the chance. I told her to say “I’m down” instead. Of course, it’s a pun on the down feathers that ducks have.

Deena: Let's see... I'm down!

As I continued talking to Big Top throughout my session, he started talking about his desire to ride a bike alongside the river! I don’t think a bike exists that would support the weight of an elephant, but it’s a nice idea at least.

Big Top: On days like today, riding a bike by the river sounds pretty sweet!

Rosie asked me to play a game of hide-and-seek, and I agreed to the competition. She gave me 15 minutes to find her, Fang, and Big Top. Within a minute, I found Big Top trying to hide behind Nook ‘n’ Go.

A few minutes later, I found Rosie behind the museum and Fang behind this sign board. So none of them actually hid behind a tree this time, surprisingly. And I found all of them within five minutes!

Rosie was frustrated to lose the game so quickly.

Rosie: Grrr! I can't believe you found me so fast! It's so totally frustrating!

But she rewarded me with a tall nebuloid for winning the game.

Over by the museum, I shot down a balloon present that contained a koopa shell. Now I can relax and just kick it.

A bit later, Rosie noticed a walkingstick sticking out of my pocket!

Rosie: Did I really just see a walkingstick sticking out of your pocket...?

She offered to give me a harp for it, and that sounded like a great deal (with no strings attached). 🎶

Even though I talked to Big Top many, many times, he never brought up moving again. So either he changed his mind about moving without explicitly mentioning it, or he’s still planning on moving and just didn’t bring it up again for some reason. But I had the game on for nearly two hours (though I wasn’t playing continuously), so I gave it up for the night.

Maybe I’ll give it a quick try again tomorrow or Sunday, but there’s a chance he might move. I’d hate for his stay to end this way, but I didn’t want to spend all night working on it either. Hopefully he’ll be okay. See you all next time!
