Yesterday was Valentine’s Day, and I received valentine letters in the mail from all of my islanders (and one from Isabelle, too).

After reading them all, I found a bunch of chocolate hearts and heart-shaped bouquets in my pockets.
I also went to the Roost for the other sweet Valentine’s Day treat: Hot chocolate! Brewster has served cocoa instead of coffee for this occasion, starting with City Folk. Mmm!

Bluebear was camping at the campsite, and she’s cute. I did not ask her to move in, though.

But something struck me seeing her in New Horizons. I know I’m colorblind, but despite her name, she looks green to me! It looks like her fur is sea green, or a similar shade. I didn’t think she looked this green in the older games, but in ACNH, that absolutely looks like a shade of green to my eyes. 👀
So I opened that screenshot in an image-editing program and got out the eyedropper tool. You know how it’ll show how much red, green, and blue are in a particular pixel? Of course the numbers vary depending on which spot you choose, but I noticed something consistent. No matter where I put the cursor on her fur, it’s showing more green than blue!

It’s not just my colorblindness! Bluebear is green! Yes, it’s technically a shade in between blue and green, but it’s closer to green! Check your favorite image editing program for yourself if you don’t believe me. 😛
Tonight, I had a chat with Ankha in the plaza. She told me some things about her tomb that seem hard to believe… 😛

While I was at the plaza, I asked K.K. Slider to play a random song. He performed Surfin’ K.K. for me, Ankha, and Louie. It doesn’t exactly feel like surfing weather right now, but I guess we can imagine that it’s summer. 😛
After the concert ended, I went out to Harv’s island. I asked Katrina to tell my fortune, and she saw an island where residents prefer to live in tents instead of houses!

According to her, this meant that I was going to have bad luck with money. But of course, she had a remedy for me. I just needed to pay 10,000 bells for it…and I did. She will send me my lucky charm in the mail next time.
I also had a chat with Leif, as I was curious about his weeding service. I didn’t have enough weeds on my island to purchase his services, but he did tell me what his fee is: A whopping 100,000 bells! Yikes!

Have any of you ever used this service? Do you think it was worth the money? Let me know in the comments!
Here a few other quick notes about this week:
- Agent S was sick on Monday, so I gave her some medicine. In return she gave me an apron.
- I helped out Gullivarrr on Wednesday, and he sent me a pirate-treasure robe.
- Today, I returned a lost item to Bones. He rewarded me with a pacifier! Is he calling me a baby?
Just a heads-up that I finally posted my New Horizons Art Guide. I know it’s long overdue, but it’s here now…complete with a pun about every work of art. I hope you’ll check it out! Here’s a sample:
See you next time! Never Stop Crossing!

I didn’t know you were colourblind, Jeff! Bluebear definitely looks more green in New Horizons. I think a lot of the villagers were more pale/pastel in New Leaf, and became more vibrantly coloured in New Horizons.
Bluebear looks aquamarine to me.
So, I am dubbing her; Aquabear!
I tested Bluebear with other games. Just looking at her, she does appear to be more green in New Horizons than she does in previous games. In previous games, Bluebear had roughly the same amount of blue as she did green. Some parts of her had slightly more blue, some had slightly more green. In New Horizons, every part of her is significantly more green than blue. Perhaps she should be renamed “Greenbear?”
apparently new weeds stop spawning naturally at 150, and you need 300 in order to use Leif’s weeding services, meaning you would have to intentionally plant tons of weeds
Wow, that’s…odd. That’s way more useless than I ever would have imagined, at least for 99.9% of us.
