Genji’s Goodbye

It was a dark, rainy night in Forest tonight.

Dark, cloudy skies in Forest.I noticed a very large fish shadow in the ocean, so I got my fishing rod out and caught myself a living fossil! It’s my first coelacanth of 2015.

A coelacanth?I got an unpleasant surprise when I went inside Genji’s house: He’s all packed up and ready to move out, without warning! It’s sad to see him go. Well, at least I still have him in my GameCube town.

Genji: Whoa! Mr. J?! I was trying to move out in secret, but you must've heard my muscles flexing. It’s Saturday night, so I went up to the Roost to take in a performance from K.K. Slider. I let him choose the song, and he played K.K. Calypso for me.

K.K.: All right, get ready to dig the riffs on this ditty: K.K. Calypso.Lily asked me to make a delivery to Mallary, and the item turned out to be a robo-floor. When I returned to Lily, she thanked me and gave me 552 bells.

Lily: Um, I can give you 552 bells.I can’t help but wonder what is the significance of the number 552. Animals have given 552 bells as a reward numerous times before, including hereherehere, and here. It just seems a bit strange that that number is always popping up.

Spring Arrives

Just like in New Leaf, February 25th brings the melting of snow and the return of green grass. Spring is here! Unofficially, at least. I was tired of the snow and ice, so it’s great to see the grass once again. I also changed my path to green bricks, since the ice bricks stood out too much now that the snow is gone.

Green grass and my green brick path.Fang was going along with the spring theme, as he was already walking around with a watering can. He claimed to be a serious gardener, but I have my doubts.

Fang: You wouldn't know it to look at me, but I'm a pretty serious gardener. Yeah, I can't believe it, either.Genji asked me to make a delivery to Mallary, so I waddled the duck over there. I gave her the present, and it turned out to be a caveman tunic! Ha! But the biggest surprise was that she actually liked it.

Mallary: What could it be? It's... a caveman tunic?!Near the top of the ramp, Lily was her own party planning committee. But she was having trouble deciding on a theme.

Lily: An oatmeal party? A peanut brittle party? A toothbrush party...
Definitely not the toothbrush one…

Friga asked me to catch a pill bug for her, so I went around with my shovel, banging rocks all around town. Eventually, I caught her precious pill bug and returned it to her. She thanked me with a tea table. I guess that’s not a bad trade.

Friga: Oh, really and truly? It's the pill bug I wanted!I took the bus to the city, where it was raining. When I checked out Crazy Redd’s new items for the week, something in his shop caught my eye. I saw a fish-shaped thing hanging from the ceiling, with something hanging underneath it. It took me a couple of seconds until I noticed the bath mat on the ground; that’s what he was selling. The fish thing is just part of his shop decorations. Oops.

A decoration hanging on the wall in Crazy Redd's shop, and a bat mat on the floor.

Missing the Aurora

Tonight, Friga told me that she was able to capture a picture of the northern lights tonight.

Friga: I didn't think it would turn out, but my picture is perfect! I captured the aurora on film!Unfortunately, she had better luck than I did. I saw the northern lights were very faint, and I thought they were just starting to appear. I was away from the TV for a few minutes, and when I returned, the aurora was completely gone.

When I went to visit Angus, he was talking about K.K., the singing dog. He said he was sure K.K. has another job on the side.

Angus: Everyone says he's just a traveling musician, but I'm sure he's doing something else on the side.I went up to the Roost to check out K.K. for myself. When I asked for a random song, he performed Surfin’ K.K. for me.

K.K.: All right, get ready to dig the riffs on this ditty: Surfin' K.K.I also stopped in to say hello to Broccolo. He asked me to come over to his house for a slumber party. But I already was at his house!

Broccolo: Hey, you want to come to my house and have a slumber party?
Silly mouse, I’m already in your house.
