Wednesday was July 1st, and I received Rosie’s goodbye letter in the mail. I hate to see her go, but that’s how life goes in City Folk (and Wild World). You can’t help but lose villagers sometimes.

That night, I went on a short (30-minute) test run for bug hunting. I caught two sharks, and a staggering three golden stags in that span. I earned about 139k in that half hour or so. But more on bug hunts a bit later in this entry…
I played again today, and Willow sent me a letter in the mail. She is over her cold now, and she sent me a paulownia closet to thank me for the medicine. When I saw her in person, she said that anyone who’s anyone these days has a mosquito! Who knew a mosquito was the latest fashion buzz?

It’s Apollo’s birthday, but unfortunately there are no birthday parties in this game. But at least he gets this notice on the bulletin board? That counts for something, right? 😆

I helped him out by making a delivery to Pecan for him. Apollo then gave me a kiddie carpet. Happy birthday, Apollo!
Cube asked me for a fossil, so I gave him a dinosaur egg that I dug up today. Unfortunately, he only rewarded me with 520 bells.

I played again tonight, and I checked out K.K. Slider’s show at the Roost. He performed “K.K. Marathon” for me.

Okay, let’s talk about my summer bug-hunting goals for 2026. Last week, I mentioned that I finished June with 77,350,000 bells in savings. My summer goal has typically been to earn around 2 million bells by September 1st. Even though I actually made nearly six million last year, I’m going to stick with a fairly conservative goal of 2.65 million…so that my balance reaches 80 million. But again, there’s a decent chance that I’ll exceed it.
I went on another 30-minute mini-bug hunt tonight, earning about 146k. And even though I wasn’t going to give an update so soon, I just had to when I saw I was close to doing this:

I still haven’t had a full, proper, hour+ long bug hunt, but I’ll be sure to do that sometime next week. And yes, I’ll record a long gameplay session of it, too. So keep an eye out for that. In the meantime, check out my video comparing all five versions of Forest, if you haven’t seen it yet. It’s updated for July 2026, and includes a few categories that weren’t in the previous 2024 version.
Unfortunately, I didn’t catch a mosquito for Willow yet. Maybe next time…if she still wants it by then.
