Miranda Returns

Bob’s replacement moved in today, it’s Miranda the duck. She just moved in from Tropical (Yann’s town).

Miranda: How about you come over tomorrow and gossip with me then, I tweeted?I had Miranda in my town before, back in early 2009. But there’s something odd about her return: She moved into the same exact spot where she lived before!

Miranda's HouseThe reason I remember it so well is because it’s near where my original sumo ring used to be. She would often wander into the ring, even interrupting sumo matches at times! Some of you may remember this from my ACCF Wi-Fi Moments #6 video: (Skip to 2:45 to see the scene in question).

SUMO IS FOR HUMANS!

Anyway, I continued my walk to water my flowers. It’s been a while since I’ve seen rain, and unfortunately that’s the norm for this time of year. I ran into Blaire, and she asked me for some furniture. But by the way she asked it, you’d almost think she was asking for food. Mmm, ranch.

Blaire: As long as it's something ranch, I bet it'll satisfy me, I drool!I also saw Melba, and she asked for a new greeting. I didn’t feel like giving her one.

Melba: I like ham? I wanted to talk to you real quick, my liege.

A Gift From Bob’s Garden

Bob may be gone, but his patch of purple roses (aka Bob’s garden) has helped me out already by producing a black rose. Thanks, Bob!

A black rose that sprung up near my purple-rose memorial garden for Bob.I went in Pinky’s house to say hello, and she was talking about my friend Yann. She said Yann was a fish freak.

Pinky: I got this total fish freak sort of feel from that kid...Over by Nook ‘n’ Go, Melba was getting sarcastic with me.

Melba: Oh! I'm sorry, is my net in your way?And in Able Sisters, I tried on a pigtail. It doesn’t particularly look good with my mummy outfit. Or any other outfit, for that matter.

Mabel: Oh, that looks absolutely perfect on you! Shall I wrap it up?When I went in Blaire’s house, she thanked me for taking medicine to her the other day. She rewarded me with a cabin table. I hope she didn’t drool on it.

Blaire: Thanks to you, my cold is gone! So, I want to give you this cabin table as thanks, I drool. My free flower area is really filling up with flowers! Now that I’m only opening my gate once a month, there aren’t many visitors to take them. Hopefully Yann and/or Megan will take a bunch when I open my gate next Friday.

Lots of flowers in my free flower area.Bob’s replacement has not moved in yet, so I still have nine villagers. Of course I hate Bob being gone…but at least now I don’t have to worry about anyone else leaving. I like a lot of my current villagers, and some of them I would like to keep around (particularly Ribbot and Octavian). But even if one of them left, it wouldn’t be nearly as big a deal to me as Bob was.

Bob’s situation was unique, and it wasn’t just because I liked him as a character. Part of it was that he was around so long, over 90% of Forest’s history. But it was also the people he “met” along the way…old friends of mine. Some of whom are people I may never talk to again. Even though I’ll certainly miss Bob the character, I will miss that link to the past even more.

Purple Roses for Bob

Today was the day that Bob moved out of Forest. He sent me this goodbye letter:

Dear Jeff, Moving day is finally here, and I keep thinking of the fun times we had. Those memories are what I'll take with me to my new town, not just boxes and stuff. -From BobI took the bus to the city and saw Phineas there. I was hoping he’d give me a purple balloon, to honor Bob, but he gave me a red one instead.

Jeff the mummy holding a red balloon from Phineas in the city. But I chose to honor Bob in a different way. I got a dozen purple roses out of storage and planted them where his house was. And they will remain there until another house takes that spot. Yeah, I know I’ll lose the flowers when that eventually happens, but I don’t care.  R.I.P. Bob.

Purple roses on the ground where Bob's house once stood.Saharah was in town, looking for old carpet. So I trapped her on the edge of a cliff (so I could easily find her later) and began asking my remaining villagers if they had any. I couldn’t ask Blaire though, because she was sick. So I bought her some medicine.

Blaire flips upside-down as she takes some medicine. When I circled back around, I saw something I did not expect to see. Saharah was free from the trap, but Octavian was now in it! All without the holes ever disappearing!

Octavian in the trap, despite no apparent way he could have gotten there.Wow, that’s quite a magic trick illusion! I guess the moral of the story is that if you want an animal to remain trapped, don’t use a cliff as one of the boundaries. That was pretty funny, though. I’m sure Octavian was just thinking “How did I get here?”

Anyway, three of my villagers had old carpeting for me: Octavian, Avery, and Melba.

Melba: No, go right ahead! I don't need new flooring just yet, so you're welcome to my old one!I then returned to Saharah (who fortunately didn’t wander off very far), and gave her the three carpets. In exchange, she gave me a classroom floor. It is an item I needed, so I was able to mark if off of my checklist.
