Bug Hunt 2026 Wrap-Up

On Sunday night, I attended the final fireworks festival of the year. Cube was there for the show too, and he told me that he normally prefers dumplings over fireworks…but this particular night was an exception.

Cube: Nine times outta 10, I'll choose dumplings over fireworks.
Hey, don’t dump on fireworks.

Tortimer mentioned this being the last fireworks festival of 2026, and he said he hoped I always remember this summer. That kinda made me sad for some reason.

Tortimer: Today is the last fireworks show of the year! I hope you remember this summer always, sprout.

When I made my way around to Iggy’s house, I saw that he was all packed up in boxes. I didn’t have another chance to save him. That’s too bad that his stay was so short; he didn’t even last a month!

Iggly: Hey... Hold up... Oh, yeah, I just remember I'm bailing out of this town!
Your own boxes that you just packed didn’t remind you?

After making my rounds, I went bug hunting during the fireworks. I played about an hour and a half, and the fireworks ended at midnight. It’s always sad when the festival is over, especially the last one of the year.

Tortimer: Well. I guess this is it for fireworks this year. No more fireworks until next year. How sad...

But there was still one more night for bug hunting, so I played again last night (Monday, August 31st). Pecan wanted me to catch a crucian carp for her, which she called the hippest fish around. 😆

Pecan: I'm usually the one to have the hippest fish around. But the latest trend slipped out of my grip somehow!

But I didn’t want to help out on a fishing request. My focus was on bug hunting! I again played for about an hour and a half, and I kept going until midnight…when September began and most of the good bugs stopped appearing.

Today, I received Iggly’s goodbye letter in the mail.

'Sup, Jeff, This is it, my last day in Forest! Living here made me realize just how burly I really am. Tell everyone thanks for being so scrawny! From your bud, Iggly

Okay, so now that peak bug hunting season has ended, let’s talk about my summer goal. I ended June with 77,350,000 bells in savings, and my goal was to make 2.65 million by September 1st…so that my savings would reach 80 million. But as I mentioned last week, I met that milestone just over a week ago.

But I still kept bug hunting in that final week of August, and I picked up the pace. I played several days, hitting 81 million during the final fireworks on Sunday night. But my final bug hunt (Monday night), combined with my latest bank interest and some fruit I sold to reach a nice round number, bumped my savings up to 81.5 million bells today.

Your current balance is 81,500,000 bells.

So I made 4.15 million bells over the summer, easily beating my goal of 2.65 million. It’s less than what I made last year, but I’d still consider it a success. It’s still going to take me a few more years to save up 100 million and earn that green feather, though. 😆

Did any of you have summer bug hunting goals, in any Animal Crossing game? If so, let me know how it went in the comments! And I’ll be back with another entry next week…when we’ll see who replaces Iggly. Never Stop Crossing!
