I started off the new year with a ton of new mail. I had seven letters in my mailbox.
That included New Year’s greetings from Mint, Ruby, Bob, and “Mom,” who sent me 1,000 bells. I also got the usual Sunday letter from the Happy Room Academy (my house scored 103,418 if you’re wondering). I received the monthly ABD Notice, telling me I earned 49,800 bells of interest on my bank account.
But I also had another ABD notice. That 49,800 bells of interest put my bank balance over the 10 million mark, so they sent me a piggy bank! Even though the letter says 1 million, that is a mistake in the game. The amount is 10 million.
Even besides the 7 letters in my mailbox, I got another letter handed to me by Pete. It’s the new DLC for January, the snowman vanity. My snowman themed room is too messy right now (due to all my party poppers), so I took a picture of my snowman vanity and the piggy bank downstairs.
There was no snow today, so I had to water my flowers. I saw a wilted tulip that I didn’t need, so I decided to kill it and take a picture mid-pluck.
When I circled around to town hall, Tortimer was there, giving out the New Year Shirt for 2012. It has “2012” on the back and a dragon on the front. If you’re wondering why a dragon, it’s because it’s based on the Chinese calendar. Year of the dragon, baby!
Later in the evening, Abbey (the Swiss Miss) invited me over to her town Freak. She had her town set to New Year’s Eve.
She let me run through her maze again, that was cool. And she showed me around town and we ice skated for a little bit. I also saw her snowman Frosty, who I recognized from a picture she posted on ACC.
She had a nice selection of sweaters and scarves in her Able Sisters shop, so I picked up a couple of them.
She also showed me her potato farm.
We went in Joey’s house. He’s a duck who has his own rubber ducky. Abbey said it’s really his daughter Tina. I put on my beak to fit in.
I also talked to Rolf (who is named Boris in her game), whose house landed where she used to have her sumo arena. It seems like all of my friends have Rolf except me. I hope I can steal one of them. Anyway, we stopped in one of Abbey’s houses for some soup and bread.
And before we finished up, we watched K.K. perform a couple of songs. I’ve said this before, but Abbey is the best host. She has interesting things going on, both indoors and out, and has creative ideas on things to do with the game. I hadn’t played with her in six months, so it was nice to finally get another chance to visit Freak.
I opened my gate around 10:30. Bradley and Bushido came in. A few minutes later, Yann also joined in. We were all getting some party poppers and hanging out around town hall.
After a while, we headed over to The Roost to watch K.K. perform a few songs.
We also spent time looking through the exhibits in my newly-completed museum.
When it was getting close to countdown time, we all headed back over to town hall.
Before long, the clock struck 12:00 and 2012 was here! HAPPY NEW YEAR!!
Shortly after that, Bushido and Bradley left. Yann and I found a good spot to watch fireworks.
We decided to trap some animals on the beach, so we rounded up four of them. It was kind of funny seeing them happy and applauding, even though they were locked up in a virtual prison cell.
I left the room for a while to go get a snack (pizza rolls FTW). When I came back, I saw someone leaving. For a second, I thought Yann got tired of waiting for me and left, but it was actually Skye leaving. She dropped in to say Happy New Year. It’s a shame she left so quickly; I didn’t even get to say hi. But it was nice of her to stop by, at least.
Before long, I ended the party.
I went to Bradley’s town for a visit this evening.
After I was done, I then went back to my town and checked my mail. I had a letter from Blathers at the museum.
My reward for completing the museum is the museum model. Unfortunately, you can’t light up the doorway like you could on GameCube.
I then remembered that Del was sick, so I bought him some medicine and gave it to him. He flipped for it.
