First Fireworks Festival

Today I got a letter in the mail from the Happy Homes Academy. Apparently my house score exceeded 20,000 HHA points, so they sent me an HHA pennant.

The HHA pennant on my wall that I got from the Happy Homes Academy.I also got a “one lamp” in the mail, although now I can’t remember who sent it to me. I put it next to my nine lamp. These number lamps would be great to use on New Year’s, assuming you have all the numbers you need.

My nine lamp next to my one lamp.Over by the town tree, Isabelle told me that I can use custom designs for fireworks! How awesome is that?

Isabelle: Oh my! You've really brought me an idea for the show? That's so cool! Please show me the custom design!I showed her my JVGS pattern and Wendy’s Jif logo pattern.

Yesterday, I took three gold nuggets to Cyrus over at Re-Tail for customization. I forgot to return for my golden furniture yesterday, but I picked up my golden woman today.

Take home the golden woman? At 7:00, the fireworks festival began. I opened my gate, and my town quickly filled up. Dash, Wendy, and Annissa came over to visit. Of course we set off some of our own fireworks…

I set off a fountain firework near Dash, Wendy, and Annissa.Wendy ran through the fire at one point, which reminded me of a scene from Arrested Development. I’m a monster!

Wendy runs through the fire of the fountain firework. But the main attraction is the big fireworks up in the sky. There are big ones, little ones, and heart ones. The fireworks all looked really good.

Watching the heart firework up in the sky.And of course there were the custom fireworks as well.

A firework featuring the Jif peanut butter logo at the fireworks festival.Crazy Redd also had a concession stand, much like he did on GameCube. But he’s not selling balloons or pinwheels this time. Instead, he’s selling Redd’s cookies for 500 bells apiece.

Redd: I have Redd's cookies, limited items made in collaboration with T.I.Y. for the fireworks show.Much like the fortune cookies you can buy from the Nooklings, these cookies can be eaten and they have a slip of paper inside. Most of them will be “dud prizes,” which aren’t winners. They can be exchanged for a firework such as a sparkler or Roman candle.

But you can also get items from Isabelle as well. In addition to handing out fireworks, she gave me a bulb bopper, which you wear on your head.

Wearing a bulb bopper as a fountain firework goes off near Isabelle.Wendy, Dash, and I sat at the town tree to view my town history as the fireworks continued in the background.

Watching fireworks (with our eyes closed?) while sitting on the town tree.We also went over to my park near town hall and watched fireworks from there.

Watching fireworks from my yellow bench near town hall. After that, we headed off to the island.

Getting onto Kapp'n's boat as fireworks go off in the distance. We went on an item-matching tour and a fishing tour. To my surprise, I actually won the fishing tour.

Tortimer: Jeff gets 6 medals, Annissa gets 4 medals. We then returned to town, and I bought some more cookies from Redd. This time, I got a whiz prize. I wasn’t sure what that meant (and it doesn’t sound good), but that’s actually what winning tickets are called. I won a ten billion barrel.

Redd at the fireworks festival: Well then, here's your prize. A Ten Billion Barrel! This is what it looks like:

The Ten Billion Barrel as displayed in my house.I then ended the multiplayer session for the night. Even though the fireworks in ACCF were a lot of fun, New Leaf’s fireworks blow them out of the water. The fireworks look better and there’s more variety to them. There are more types of small fireworks you set off yourself (fountain fireworks in addition to sparklers and Roman candles). Plus the “boppers” are a nice touch, and the ability to get special items from Crazy Redd is just icing on the cake.

New Leaf’s fireworks festival is a whole lot of fun, and I’m really impressed. This is one of the best festivals I’ve played in any Animal Crossing game. And the best part? There’s going to be at least four of them every year. Did you all enjoy the fireworks festival as much as I did? Leave a comment below and share your stories too! As for me, I’ll be back with another blog entry tomorrow. Bye for now!

Wishing on a Star

Late last night, Wendy invited me over to her town because there was a meteor shower there. So we watched the shooting stars and made some wishes.

Wishing on shooting stars with Wendy during a meteor shower. Then today, I got a letter in the mail from Wishy. He (or she?) told me my wish would be granted, and there was also a gift attached to the letter. It was a nine lamp.

The nine lamp I got in the mail from Wishy.I bumped into Aurora outside, and she offered to sell me a conveyor-belt sushi.

Aurora: Hey, boss... Can I interest you in some conveyor-belt sushi? That’s the item I just saw in Kate’s SpotPass home on Thursday. Even though I have no interest in sushi, I could still pretend it’s a race track. 😛 But Aurora wanted 4,320 bells for it. Sorry, but no. But as soon as I turned her offer down, she offered to give it to me for free! How sweet of her!

Today was the last day I could sell my turnips, so I went into Re-Tail to check the prices. Only 49 bells! That’s really bad, because I paid 107 bells each for them! Wendy checked the price in her town, and it wasn’t much better: 58 bells.

Reese: Currently, I'm buying each turnip for 58 bells. As bad as that was, I was out of time and needed to sell. So I got 11,600 bells the turnips, which is roughly half of what I paid. Oh well, you can’t win on the stalk market every week.

Wendy also stopped by my town briefly. I showed her my conveyor-belt sushi:

Jeff, facing the conveyor-belt sushi: GO YELLOW CAR!After I ended the multiplayer session, I went into town hall to check my town status. It was still perfect. But to my surprise, today was the 15th day of perfect town status!

Isabelle: The citizens have been completely satisfied with life in Forest for 15 days straight! So I got the golden watering can! Now I can water in style!

I got a gold watering can! I bet I can water a lot of plants all at once with this! And I did one last thing for tonight: I decided to install the video screen. I put in the southwest part of town, a bit east of the park and north of my ramp.

The location I picked out for my video screen.I’ll be back tomorrow with more. Tomorrow, I’ll be opening my gate for an hour or so, probably around 7:00 p.m. Eastern time. If the time changes, I will post it on my Twitter page.

Astrid the Baby Slapper

Rolf has been sick lately, so I bought some medicine for him. Hopefully he’ll start feeling better soon.

Rolf flips as he takes medicine.I spotted Phineas in town today, and he gave me the Bronze Medalist badge for winning a lot of medals on island tours.

I've got the Bronze Medalist badge! It's proof I've received a lot of medals on the island! And as I was talking to Phineas, I saw Benedict steaming mad in the background. Apparently he just had an argument with Rory.

Benedict: Gaargh! Everyone better stay outta my way!In the Roost, I think somebody passed gas as I was making coffee… I’m pretty sure it was Brewster.

Tex: ...EXCELLENT! I just want to be enveloped by this nice smell...Over at the campsite, there was a camper in town. In fact, there were two: Astrid and her child. When I first spoke to her, she started applauding. But by clapping, she was actually smacking her baby in the face repeatedly! It was pretty hilarious actually.

Animated GIF of Astrid clapping her hands on her baby's head as she asks if I'm from around here. And outside, Rory suggested a new public works project! It’s a video screen.

Rory: We need a video screen in this town, you know?Based on the preview in town hall, it seems to alternate between pictures of Tortimer, Tom Nook, and Lyle. Not very exciting, but still better than Grease.

Video screen PWP: 284,000 bells.I also saw that Saharah was in town. She had “many carpets for the petting of cars.” Alrighty then.

Saharah: I have many wallpapers for the papering of walls. Many carpets for the petting of cars.I had her make over my room, and she put in a ceramic tile floor and an arched window wall.

The ceramic tile floor and an arched window wall on display in my house. The arched windows reminded me a bit of the sanctuary in The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past, but that’s probably just because I’m currently replaying that game.

That’s all for today, but I’ll be back with another update tomorrow. Have a great weekend, everyone!
