Bird Town

Jay was sick with a cold today, so I bought some medicine and took it to him. He flipped for it. Get better soon, Jay. I hate seeing you so blue.

Jay flips for medicine.
I see a little birdie.

I visited Aurora, and we had a chat about rock music. She said she appreciates the rock lifestyle, but it’s not for her. Apparently, she doesn’t look good in spandex.

RUU_5519-smBroccolo and Static were having a conversation right behind my house, and it didn’t make much sense to me. Broccolo wondered if a nightcap would taste good if you soaked it in rice milk. What a weird mouse.

RUU_5520-smA bit later on, I ran into Static again. He asked me for a new greeting. I couldn’t think of anything good, so I just told him to say “I’m electrifying.”

Static is electrifying.I then went snowball fishing! Well, not really. I pushed a snowball into the river, and for a moment, it looked like a fish started to make a move for it. But of course, the fish didn’t bite down. But maybe it should have; that’s the closest thing to ice cream a fish is going to find!

Snowball fishingMy newest neighbor Benedict was walking around with his net out, apparently hunting for bugs. Then he let out his dung beetle call: Uh-hoo!

I hope that's not your nickname for your girlfriend.

I just realized that half of my town’s villagers are birds! There’s Jay, Twiggy, Aurora, Friga, and Benedict! And sometimes I’m a bit of a bird-brain myself!

New Year Shirt 2016

Today is New Year’s Day and I had a bunch of letters in my mailbox wishing me a happy new year. “Mom” sent me a letter with 1,000 bells attached. I also received good new year’s wishes from Static, Broccolo, Friga, and Twiggy.

RUU_5508-smI quickly headed over to town hall to get my free gift from Mayor Tortimer: A New Year 2016 shirt!

RUU_5509-smIt’s the year of the monkey, so this year’s shirt has a monkey on the front and 2016 on the back. I’m not a fan of the color, but I’ll wear it for a while.

ACCF New Year 2016 shirtI temporarily took the shirt off, just to see how it looks lined up with my others. Here are the New Year shirts from 2010-2016. Sadly, I didn’t keep the 2009 one (apparently).

RUU_5512-smAll of the villagers in town talked about the new year. Static was actually a bit sad; he called himself old. But everyone else seemed to be in a good mood, looking forward to the new year.

RUU_5513-smBut Twiggy had a confusing way of wishing me a happy new year.

What?
What?

The new year also brought a new villager to Forest! Benedict the red rooster has just moved in! Benedict lived in my New Leaf town for most of 2013, and I grew to like him. He’s my 3rd favorite chicken in the series, behind Hank and Egbert.

RUU_5515-smAfter meeting him, I noticed that his house messed up my path!

RUU_5516-smBut the most interesting thing is where he lives: It’s very rare for that spot to be occupied! It’s just east of where Bob’s house was, and I can’t remember the last time anyone lived there.

Everyone has different hopes, dreams, and goals for the new year. But as for what Broccolo wants? Well, it kind of stinks.

RUU_5517-smThat’s all for now, but I’ll be back with more next time. Remember to pick up your 2016 shirt from Tortimer, if you collect them like I do! Happy New Year, everyone! I hope 2016 is a great year for you! 🙂

River Fishing

Static seemed to be looking forward to the new year. He asked if I’m ready to say goodbye to 2015, and he asked if I had any resolutions. He said that his resolution was to be tougher and manlier. I don’t know if anyone has ever thought “wow, that squirrel is so tough and manly!”

RUU_5505-smWhen I spoke to Friga, she seemed relieved that it had stopped snowing. Just one problem, though: It didn’t stop snowing. I think she’s a bit confused.

RUU_5506-smBroccolo was locked out of his house and he asked me to look for his key. Also, Mott asked me to catch a black bass for him. So I thought I could kill two birds with one stone by doing some fishing in the river. I ended up catching Broccolo’s key, so I returned it to him.

RUU_5507-smHe rewarded me with 600 bells. That’s actually pretty odd, because when villagers give me a cash reward for something, it’s almost always 552 bells. Oh well, 48 extra bells for me.

I continued fishing for a black bass, but I wasn’t having any luck so I eventually gave up. Sorry, Mott.

I may not play ACCF for New Year’s Eve tomorrow night, but I’ll be sure to play on Friday to pick up my new 2016 shirt from Tortimer. I’ll see you all then!
