New Year’s Shirt 2024

2024 has arrived, and many of my villagers sent me New Year’s greetings in the mail. Thanks, guys!

Jeff, Happy New Year! You've been a good kid to have around this last year. I'm looking forward to more fun with you in 2024! -Tom

I also received a New Year’s letter from Mom (she sent me 1,000 bells) and a thank-you letter from Nana (she sent me a weeping fig for giving her medicine last week).

Mayor Tortimer was standing outside of town hall, as is his tradition on New Year’s Day.

Tortimer: Happy New Year! It's time to celebrate, Jeff!

He gave me the latest New Year’s shirt for 2024. It has a dragon on the front (since 2024 is the Year of the Dragon in the Chinese zodiac), and “2024” on the back.

I saw a big fish shadow in the ocean, and I fished out a lobster. Nana immediately pinged me to ask for it. 🙄

Nana: Well, Dr. J! Do my eyes deceive me, or is that a lobster you have there?
It’s not a lobster, it’s… a rock.

She didn’t offer me anything in return, either! Granted, she probably would have given me something, but I didn’t want to chance it without knowing what I was getting back. Sorry, monkey!

I later saw a big fish in the river too, and I caught a stringfish! Fortunately, no one begged me for that one. 😛

All of my villagers wished me a happy new year, and Antonio even said it in a loud font size. 😉

Antonio, loudly: Happy New Year!

Gabi said that she’ll be even more powerful in 2024, like a robot. 🤖

Gabi: The me of 2024 is a new, more POWERFUL me! Like a robot! But without all the gears and stuff.

And Tom performed his Dance of the Lonely Succotash for me. 😛

Tom: Anyway, this is called the Dance of the Lonely Succotash! Enjoy!

But my day in Forest wasn’t completely cheery. I found out that Queenie was moving out, without warning.

Queenie: I just HAVE to spread my wings, so to speak. But I'm glad I saw you before I left, let's fly! Take care!

Queenie has grown on me during her stay in Forest, so it’s a bit sad to say goodbye. But Forest life goes on, and I’ll see who her replacement is next time.

Happy New Year, everyone! If you haven’t yet seen this, take a look back at my 2023 in Animal Crossing:

Christmas Day

Yesterday was Christmas Eve (also known as Toy Day in later Animal Crossing games), and it was Jingle’s night to appear!

Hey, everybody! Happy holidays! And guess who's comin' to town!

It took me a while to find him initially, but he reminded me that he can be found indoors to deliver gifts to villagers (at least the ones who aren’t home).

Jingle: When I deliver these presents, I have to hide them indoors so they're not found. It's tough!

Egbert told me that he was good all year (in anticipation of gifts from Jingle)…even though he was tempted to be bad with Nana. Wait, what??? Do I even want to know?

Egbert: Don't get me wrong, I was tempted a LOT. Especially that one time with Nana!

A bit later, I met up with Egbert again. He explained the reasoning that villagers go outside without locking their doors on Christmas Eve. I like when game developers address the odd quirks and nuances in games, and try to give a logical reason for them.

Egbert: I left my door unlocked and spent all day outside. What else can I do? After all, I don't have a chimney...

I found Jingle repeatedly, playing the event for over an hour. I obtained a total of 14 items, and I sold them for 171,360 bells. Even though I didn’t get the full Jingle set last night, that’s okay because I already had it in storage. And speaking of that set, I brought it out and put it on display, replacing my spooky furniture set.

If you’d like to see a 30-minute gameplay video of my Toy Day session, I just uploaded this today:

Today, my villagers all (indirectly) referenced the holiday. Tutu told me she ate like a BEAST, and something about that sentence caught Grizzly’s attention. 😆

Tutu: Did you have lots of good eats last night? Ohmigosh, I totally ate like a BEAST, twinkles.

Gabi, however, thought today was Halloween??? She may not be the smartest cookie on Santa’s plate. 😛 I guess her blank stare should’ve been my first hint. 😆

Gabi: Woo hoo, pop star! Ohmigosh, when I woke up this morning? I totally thought it was Halloween!

Nana has still been sick this holiday weekend, so I gave her some more medicine yesterday and today.

Saharah was in town tonight, looking for old flooring. Surprisingly, three of my villagers had some old carpet to give me: Queenie, Gabi, and Antonio.

Antonio: Oh, dude! That's right! Saharah is in town today! This scraggly, faded old carpet is all yours!

When I took them all to Saharah, she gave me some office flooring.

Saharah: Yes, now I give to you.

Merry Christmas, everyone!

Saving Nana

Gabi has still been sick, so I gave her some more medicine Sunday.

Nana was talking about moving out of town, but I (eventually) talked her out of it.

Nana: What's wrong with me?! The answer is so obvious! I'm going to stay, po po!

By Tuesday, Gabi was feeling better, and she sent me a lemon table in the mail.

But by today, the illness had been passed on to Nana. So I gave her some medicine as well.

I found two snowballs pretty close to each other, so I rolled them up and made a snowman.

Snowman: Shivering snowflakes! Look at this craftsmanship!

While out in the city, I spotted my old best bud Bob! He talked about getting souvenirs for people back home though, and I thought, Forest is your home! Leave them and come back to your real home!

Bob: Since I came all the way to the city, I might as well get some souvenirs for people back home, pthhpth.

I found Gabi in the Roost tonight, talking about how good the food is there.

Gabi: The food here is, like, OHMIGOSH-good, bear with!

Except that the Roost doesn’t actually serve food. So I’m convinced she was eating out of an ashtray.

Since K.K. Slider was around, I stayed for his concert. I told him I was feeling a little sad, and he performed K.K. Waltz for me.

I plan on playing tomorrow night for the Christmas Eve event, although I’m not sure if the blog entry will be up tomorrow, or not until later in the week. But I hope you all have a Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays! See you soon!
