Not Used

On Monday, I checked on my Guest character for the first time in months. He received a letter from Mom (about gardening), and it contained a very unusual item: It said “not used!”

An item called "not used" in Animal Crossing: City Folk that the player received in a letter from Mom.

It looked like a bag of flower seeds, and indeed, that’s what it was. When I planted it, it was some black cosmos. Perhaps because it’s a hybrid flower, it didn’t have a properly named seed bag? Regardless, it’s pretty interesting. I don’t recall Mom sending hybrids in the mail before, let alone any that said “not used.”

Playing as Jeff again, I started to realize that my house is a bit messy.

On Tuesday night, I built a snowman on the river bank. I immediately began taking pictures of it from different locations.

Goldie asked me to make a delivery to Monty, and she sent him a Dutch shirt. Monty hated it, and he said that even his grandmother knits trendier clothes. 😂

Monty: Oh, Goldie...I hate to be a jerk, but my grandma knits trendier stuff...

On Wednesday night, my previous snowman had slid over one spot (away from the river bank). So I built a new snowman in the spot where the first one originally was. Punchy came up behind it and gave it some ears.

Two snowmen, one with cat ears.

After I stepped away from the game for a while with the snowmen off-screen, I returned to find Tiffany in the river!

Without even trying, I triggered a glitch! The snowman on the river bank (or perhaps both snowmen) apparently interfered with the animals’ walking routines. By walking away and returning repeatedly, some more interesting things happened. This video shows it all.

By tonight, the original snowman had shrunk down to just a tiny little fellow. Oh, and the northern lights were out.

Pascal was in town, so I picked up a scallop to give him. In return, he gave me a keg…and some words of wisdom.

Pascal: If you beat yourself up, that means you lost TO YOURSELF! Oh, maaan, I can't even think about it.

I stopped by Nook ‘n’ Go to take another picture of the aurora.

As I came out of Able Sisters, Puck approached me and gave me a red grid shirt. But since Puck had earlier asked me for some new clothes, I spoke to him again and gave the shirt right back to him. He appreciated it (more than he should have), and he gave me 532 bells.

Puck: Uh huh huh huh huh huh! I'm gonna wear this to bed tonight for sweet dreams!

If you haven’t seen the Animal Crossing Q & A I posted to Youtube this past weekend, here it is. I discuss my towns, villagers, favorites, New Horizons thoughts, and more. Feel free to check it out, and I’ll see you all next time. Never Stop Crossing!

New Year’s Shirt 2020

Today is New Year’s Day, and I received New Year’s greetings in the mail from Kitty, Roald, Goldie, Static, Bones, and Mom. The letter from Mom included 1,000 bells.

Dear Jeff, I've made all sorts of resolutions this year. On the top of my list? Not being so tough on myself... So I threw the list away. Mission accomplished! Happy New Year! -Mom

The northern lights were up in the sky over Forest, so I took a picture of them from the bulletin board.

Tortimer was standing outside of town hall, so that he could give out New Year’s shirts for 2020!

Tortimer: But first, since it's the new year and all, I need to give you something.
What’s with your eyes, dude?

The shirt is white and it has a rat on the front and 2020 on the back. That’s because 2020 is the year of the rat in the Chinese zodiac. Here’s a look at the shirt:

When I visited Bones, he was trying to recall the animals of the Chinese zodiac…and trying to figure out what year it is.

Bones: Rat, ox, tiger, rabbit, horse, snake, sheep, monkey... Um... What year is it again?
Just look at my shirt, dawg.

My monthly bank interest from the Bank of Nintendo helped my account balance top 39 million bells.

Your current balance is 39,050,000 bells.

My villagers were talking about the arrival of 2020; Goldie said she hopes it’s a dreamy year for both of us.

Goldie: I hope this new year is absolutely dreamy for both of us, in a pound.
Careful what you wish for! We don’t want you to end up in a dog pound!

Happy new year to you all! I hope you have a great 2020! I’ll see you next time. 🙂

Snowball Fight?

It was snowing in town tonight, and Bones approached me with a great idea: He said we should have a snowball fight later! That is something I would love to see in New Horizons!

Bones: Oh, Dry Bones! I have a great idea! Let's have a snowball fight later on, lone bone!

Maybe it could be a hide-and-seek type event, with a timer and official scoring. But I’d be happy even with the ability to bend over and roll up a snowball that we could throw at other players (or villagers). If we can have some lighthearted fun with pitfalls and toy hammers, why not snowballs?

Forest’s last new resident of the decade just arrived: Punchy the cat is here. I’m not sure what to think of him just yet. He’s not a character I have much experience with. Well, I guess this will be my chance to get to know him.

Punchy: I just stuffed all my junk in boxes, so I'm still getting organized.

At Nook ‘n’ Go, today’s furniture selection included a kiddie stereo, a festive candle, and a tulip chair. Or in other words, the most colorful selection of furniture I’ve seen! (Well, maybe.)

Outside, Monty the monkey locked himself out of his house. All I could do is laugh. 😂

Monty: I'm so stupid sometimes. Somehow my key got away from me when I was out running around.
You said it.

At the Roost, I stopped in for K.K. Slider’s Saturday night performance. He played K.K. Condor, which is one of my favorites…although I think I prefer the aircheck over the live version.

K.K.: All right, get ready to dig the riffs on this ditty: K.K. Condor.

Puck was sick with a cold, so I bought some medicine for him.

Don’t flash me.

And Mitzi the cat was already looking forward to spring! I agreed with what she said, but we have a loooooong way to go. Winter is just getting started!

Mitzi: The cold of winter just makes the coming of spring all the sweeter, don't you agree?

Have a great new year, everyone! I’ll be back on the 1st with another entry. I have to pick up my New Year’s shirt for 2020, of course!
