Dampened Spirits

It was raining in Forest tonight. Bud was not a fan of the drippy stuff.

Bud: Rain is lame, Boy J. It's all wet, and drippy, and...wimpy, maaan.Up on the cliff above my house, Static was asking where I got the money to put in a basement. It’s best not to ask about what I put in the ground, if you get my drift.

Static: You got stocks? Or turnips? Buried treasure? Just been squirrelling away bells on the side?In the roost, I found Mallary enjoying a cup of coffee. Not surprisingly, she was also gossiping.

Mallary: Hey, Boy J. You would not BELIEVE the tacky couple I saw in here the other day! While I was there, I asked K.K. to sing a random song for me. He performed K.K. Salsa. Now I just need some K.K. chips.

K.K.: All right, get ready to dig the riffs on this ditty: K.K. Salsa. When I visited Kitt, she was a bit rude to me. She asked if my interests included staring at a wall.

Kitt: Really? What do you do when you're not running errands, child? Stare at a wall?Yeah, I’m staring at the wall to imagine where to mount a kangaroo head.

Seems like my villagers weren’t in the best mood tonight. I’m expecting them to cheer up by next time. Or else.

Summer Bug Season Starts

Fang told me that he was thinking of moving out of Forest. Is this just because there’s a full moon tonight? Fortunately, I was able to talk him out of moving.

Fang: And moving's such a hassle, anyway. All right, you've convinced me. I'll stay in Forest!I found Static at the Roost, enjoying some late-night coffee.

Static: I got nothing to complain about...as long as the refills keep coming. He needs his refills.

A close-up of Static's face. Now that July is here, that means bug hunting season is in full force! All of the summer bugs are out now, including many valuable beetles. This is the best time of the year for making money, hunting for bugs on summer nights.

I caught a scarab beetle! A gem of the bug world. But still just a bug.But there are potential dangers involved, as I found out when this tarantula ambushed me.

Me passing out after getting attacked by a tarantula.Happy bug hunting! But be careful out there! Remember, the darkness is suspicious.

Static’s Missing Key

Static lost his key tonight, and not just any key…his favorite key. The key to his house. He asked me to help find it.

Static: I think I dropped my house key somewhere. That was my favorite key... It opened my house. It’s Saturday night, so I made sure to head up to the Roost for K.K. Slider’s musical performance. He played Forest Life for me, which is a song I’ve always enjoyed.

K.K.: All right, get ready to dig the riffs on this ditty: Forest Life.I saw the shadow of a small fish in the river, so I got my fishing rod out and caught it…it was the key! Wow, first try!

I caught a key! ...Whose key is this?I returned the key to Static, and he was quite relieved. He revealed that he had a backup plan, however: He was going to trick Bud into switching houses!

Static: Good timing! I was just about to trick Bud into trading houses with me! (Still might...)I saw Bud over by town hall, and he had a small problem of his own: Fleas. I got my net out and caught one of the little buggers. Of course, Bunnie was standing right there, snooping in Bud’s business.

Bud: I had those fleas so long, I was about to start asking them to spar me at the dojo, maaan!
