Groundhog Day 2016

Today is Groundhog Day in America, so Tortimer was awake and outside of town hall to hand out gifts for the occasion.

Tortimer: Today is Groundhog Day.The gift is a Resetti model that you can put in your home. Although I’m not sure why you would want to. Maybe it could make a good alarm clock; it could yell at you to wake up and then make you apologize for wasting its time. 😛

Resetti model in ACCF.I went in to visit Jay, and surprisingly, he still wasn’t packed up for his move. Once again, I had the opportunity to tell him to stay, so I gave it another try. But he insisted that it’s too late; he just wants to have some more awesome memories before he goes. I think he’s just trying to distract himself from feeling blue.

Jay: Help me go out with some awesome memories!Aurora was still sick with a cold, so I bought some medicine for her once again.

Aurora takes the medicine.Mott and Alli were having a big argument near Nook ‘n’ go this evening, and then Chow jumped in and started a conversation with Mott. He said a real man needs to be even tempered and relaxed. I know the conversation was just a coincidence, but it sure fit what was going on at the time!

Chow: Real men are even tempered and relaxed.
You can still see the puffs of steam coming out of Alli’s head.

Jay Key

Mott asked me for some distinguished furniture today, and I told him I’d help him out. I had my doubts about finding anything like that, though. But things changed when I went into Nook ‘n’ Go. There was a tea vase on sale, and I thought it looked kind of fancy. So I bought it, took it back to Mott, and he liked it! He rewarded me with 752 bells.

Mott pays me 752 bells.
Not 552 bells? I’m shocked!

The next house I entered belonged to Aurora; she was sick with a cold. So I headed straight back to Nook ‘n’ Go to buy some medicine. I then took it back to Aurora. Get well soon, ice cube.

Aurora flips as she takes medicine.
Uh…I’m seeing a different side of you.

Outside, Static told me he was looking for a new catchphrase to replace “retweet me.” That one was originally Twiggy’s phrase. I hate when they spread catchphrases to other villagers, because it often ruins the pun. I told Static to just say “shocking” for now.

Static's new catchphrase, shocking.Broccolo told me he loves winter because it means free snow cones. He told me he takes a bunch of snow and pours juice over it. But he warned me not to try it myself, saying that only he is qualified to do it because he won the regional snow-cone eating contest seven times.

Broccolo shares his recipe for snow cones.Jay was locked out of his house, so I tried fishing to find his key. I caught this pond smelt in the waterfall…and I also caught my character making an awkward pose/face.

Catching a pond smelt in the waterfall.I took the key to Jay and he thanked me and gave me a lovely carpet. I didn’t have the heart to tell him I didn’t care for it.

I give Jay his key back.He immediately went into his house, which was good to see. A lot of times, you’ll return a villager’s key, only for them to stay outside all night anyway. But I followed him inside, and he mentioned his upcoming move. Again, I told him to stick around, but he said it’s too late and I can’t stop him. I’m not sure that’s true, but oh well. Jay’s kinda cool, but I’m not going to bend over backwards to try to get him to stay. If he goes, he goes.

Jay: It's too late to stop me!

Saharah & Savannah

Saharah was in town today, looking for some old wallpaper. So I began to ask around to see if any of my villagers had any to give me. My search started out well when Mott handed one over.

Mott: That old wallpaper is super dusty. But my good luck didn’t last. One after another, villagers denied my request. And many of them treated it like a big joke.

Tutu: Old wallpaper? Why, did you buy an old wall? The very last villager I asked about it, Aurora, actually had some wallpaper to give me. Thanks, Aurora! But two wasn’t enough, and I didn’t have any extras in storage this time.

Anyway, Jay told me that he was going to be moving out of town. I told him not to go, but he said it’s too late. I guess I’ll see what happens with him next time.

Jay wants to move out.Not much else was going on in town today, so I took the bus out to the city. I saw my favorite zebra there, Savannah. She said her shoes were dirty, and she wanted to get a shoe shine…but Kicks was not in the city today.

Savannah: My shoes are dirty.Peewee was totally judging her right there.
